Who are we?

Our goal

La Concertation ASBL – Action Culturelle Bruxelloise is a federative network gathering several non-lucrative organisations that are involved in the sociocultural and artistic sector in the Brussels Region. Among those organisations, the cultural centres represent our founding members.

Since 2017, our organisation is implementing an enlargement process in order to better reflect the great potential of our communities and how they contribute to society. We are therefore actively committed to establishing links and building bridges between those various actors while setting a goal for our platform: to act as a regional structure, a federative network which is also uniquely representative of the Brussels way of life.

Our association rests on the belief that all the organisations of the Brussels sociocultural and artistic sector share values and common goals, which are specific to the urban environment that is surrounding them.

As a platform, we aim at:
- Encouraging our members to share their points of view and experiences about the main issues and particular features of the sociocultural and artistic work in Brussels;
- Addressing social and institutional changes by way of supporting any policy in favour of opening-up and inclusion, especially in our contemporary societies where the individual is facing a growingly dehumanising system;
- Proposing common actions which are representative of the Region, by supporting cooperation projects led by our members and their partners;
- Contributing to a better dissemination of information regarding the sector and any initiative promoting a better social community.

La Concertation ASBL shall therefore define and develop transversal lines of work dealing with issues about the specific features of the Region while also taking the bigger picture into account – the whole of Belgium and beyond.

In order to achieve our goals, we will particularly focus on:
- growing as a platform, by way of network strengthening activities;
- addressing the topic of cultural mediation;
- taking a stand in favour cultural action, with a specific emphasis on partnerships and cooperation.

All those operating forces are committed and linked to one another. They open new perspectives for territorial cultural development within the Brussels Region for a better promotion and implementation of cultural rights.

    Fourquet is a reference to a brewer’s tool (a wooden stirring stick) and translates very well the will of the cultural centre to achieve cultural blending by mixing people, gender and age. For that purpose, the centre involves the commune’s inhabitants in participatory projects, and by doing so perpetrates a rich tradition of associative involvement. The centre is particularly sensitive to the issues of democracy, interaction and sustainable development.
